Independent The new city must be a place for everyone

Sitting member Waitemata Health board, chair of audit and finance committee, company director. Massey Community Board member, former Member of Parliament, assistant speaker of the house, police and corrections spokesman, chairman of health select committee.  Local resident over 20years. Our community must have a council member with authority and proven ability to represent you.I will be an effective voice for Greenhithe on the council, bringing my local Government and Government experience to work for you.   This is going to be important as many around the table will be focused on the centre of the city and will need reminding that Auckland is now all of Auckland not just "Queen Street".

Consultation is one of my strengths and commitments.  The people in a community know their needs best and therefore, I will listen to and work with you to deliver the Greenhithe that you want; protecting and enhancing its village character and semi-rural greenness, and yet ensuring it enjoys modern utilities and facilities.  Public transport improved and increased. Hobsonville development will need to be monitored. Attack graffiti.  Deal with dangerous dogs.  GST on rates is a tax on a tax. The GST on rates in the Auckland region is approximately $152,623,151.00. You don’t pay GST on bank fees therefore it should not be difficult to remove it from rates. This money should go back into the pockets of ratepayers. I will move a motion at the first meeting to lobby government to have it removed. I have a history of success when lobbying for my community.I will be readily accessible, responsive and accountable to you. You know where I live and my Phone number so you can contact me any time. I will hold regular public meetings. Phone 094166452
