David COOPER

Independent - My principles are: Fair, trustworthy, and sincere.

Chairman of East Coast Bays Community Board and six years board membership, I offer common sense, strength and experience.  My background as an infrastructure engineer provides an ability to monitor Council proposals and ensure our rates are being spent wisely.  My track record is strong in working for community improvements and providing equal support.

Having lived and brought up my family in the Bays for the past 30 years, I am very familiar with and a regular visitor to Greenhithe and Albany areas.

Having worked proactively with Torbay, Rothesay Bay, and Mairangi Bay to nurture and create unique village cultures, I am a very strong supporter of village plans and development and Greenhithe deserves protection of this status.  As there will be separate organisations for transport, property, and other functions in the future, their plans must be made to include the local needs.

1 To keep costs and rates under control, as ballooning costs will be a high risk in the honeymoon period for a new Council.

2 To help make it all work.  There are real opportunities to finally get an Auckland Plan agreed, however it must be made affordable.

3 To ensure that our ward (Albany) is not treated unfairly when it comes to funding the shortfalls in other areas that have been less forward thinking.

I have no political affiliations or other obligations to other groups to affect decision making.

I am a strong believer in local representation and local communities and their uniqueness.
