I have been a North Shore resident for 40 years and active in my Banking Career as well as participating in community and sports activities including the Albany Community Board, Business MentorsNZ and Enterprise North Shore assisting businesses grow to create employment. The dignity of employment must be open to all; men and women, the healthy and disabled, NZ born and immigrants. I am socially responsible and undertake to conscientiously represent you to ensure you experience value as a citizen in the new Albany Ward.

A member of the Albany Community Board with an excellent attendance record. I am concerned for the future representation of Greenhithe Citizens and ratepayers. Communication is between both parties, and residents and ratepayers must communicate to the Local Board by attending meetings and presenting their views at the Public Forum time available at each meeting. Also please attend and participate in Planning Hearings, especially regarding the new developments taking place at West Harbour and in your own area, Greenhithe.

The new CCO's and Auckland Council are yet unproven and must succeed. You will need an independent person to represent you in Council who will ensure the new Council considers your views and a person who can make good decisions for the right reasons with every considertaion for the consequences. You will need to to assure yourselves that the person you elect has the qualifications and the ability to represent you  full time, without any other conflicting distractions.

I believe the new CCO's together with the new Auckland Council and its elected members, have a social responsibility to provide for your health and welfare by delivering a high standard of essential services at the best possible value to ratepayers.

Albany Ward includes Hobsonville, Whenuapai, Greenhithe, and Paremoremo in addition to Albany and an area North to Waiwera, ready for extensive development.  It is the responsibility of those elected by you to ensure that this future development includes the necessary residential environment and care for ecology, to provide comfortable housing, education, medical care facilities together with parks and recreational facilities for you to enjoy a wholesome rewarding life.

Rates I do not wish to be associated with past Councillors who have promised to reduce rates. They never have! Despite frequent promises from the same Councillors seeking constant re election, the rates have always risen above and beyond inflation. A sure result of poor planning and inefficient management practise, by the same Councillors making those unrealised promises. An astute Councillor will represent you by participating in diligent budgeting and planning and making decisions for the right reason with every regard for the consequences to you.

Transport Immediately; [1] An integrated ticketing system to combine all forms of commuting transport. [2] A park and ride should be instigated at Silverdale to reduce commuting traffic through the North Shore.

In the longer term; [1] Suburban rail should be electrified to make it possible to extend services usuing tunnels where necessary. [2] Electric suburban rail should be extended from Britomatrt to Orewa by tunnels and the recently completed Bus Way. [3] I would also promote a link from Westgate to North Shore to assist more flexible employment options for residents.

Water [1] Water supply and management must never be privatised. Water is intrinsic to good health and an essential life ingredient. [2] Water must not be a volumetric charge to ratepayers. This is not fair to families. Where it is used commercially to generate income is a different matter.
