New Team at Collins House Restaurant

Greenhithe's iconic Collins House restaurant is now under new management. Scott from Art Ducko in Torbay took over in January, joined by Andrew, his second chef at Art Ducko.

Collins House website now online!

Scott has been a chef for over 20 years including 10 years at Art Ducko. He has introduced a new menu, bringing a la carte dining back to Collins House with a fine selection of gourmet dishes. You can download the menu here.

To give a few examples, the entrees include poached pear and blue cheese salad, duck liver pate with fruit chutney and brioche, and coconut and curry green lipped mussels.

Among the highlights of the mains, there is roast duck with a ginger and port wine glaze, eye fillet steak with gratin mushrooms and red wine jus, and fillet of venison served on potato rosti with a red wine and balsamic sauce. All mains include potatoes and seasonal vegetables, and there is also a good selection of tasty desserts plus daily blackboard specials.

The fully licensed bar offers a selection of New Zeland and imported wines - for example Church Road Reserve, Zeno from Waiheke and Pepper Jack from the Barossa valley in Australia. Diners are welcome to bring their own wine.

Built in the early 1900s, the historic Collins House villa has been a restaurant since 1987. Surrounded by spacious grounds, it offers a delightful ambience for dining, with elegant decor, a private dining room for groups and the option of dining on the deck in fine weather.

It is an ideal venue for functions of all types, and marquees can be set up on the lawn for weddings and other large group occasions.

Located at 20 Greenhithe Rd, in the heart of Greenhithe village, Collins House is open for dinner Tuesday to Saturday evenings from 5.30pm. For bookings, phone 413 9322.

Mention that you read about it on the web site and get a free glass of house wine.

Am I dreaming, or is Collins House once again operating as a classy restaurant? I see Scott took over in January but I don't know what year this was. Is it 2011? Since Annette & her husband left Collins House it has had a chequered career & I no longer bother to go to Greenhithe. This was a chance google search today & if this news is current it is the best Christmas surprise, & I can't wait to make a booking. Please give me your opening dates over this holiday period.

In hopeful anticipation,
Mo Ingram
