Up one levelApril Greenhithe Garden Club
For our April meeting we ventured out of Greenhithe to a 4 ½ acre garden in Whenuapai.
'Cornerlea' has been created, where once there was only paddocks and sheep, by Anne and Hans Boere . The numerous garden beds are themed by plants or colour. A white and silver garden is particularly stunning with its wooden arched bridge over a river of succulents. There is also a conifer garden, huge round rose area and a vegetable garden (which is bigger than most peoples back yards!) – so something to please everyone!
In May we are having a sneak preview at a Knoll garden that will be making its debute in the Greenhithe garden tour later this year. Visitors and new members are welcome. Please call Rosemary on 413 8552 or Alison on 413 9442 for more information.

Greenhithe Garden Club
The March garden club meeting was held at Alison and Gill's in Churchouse Rd. Fifteen years ago, when they first moved to the property, it was covered in gorse, long grass and Kikuyu. They cut it all back and mowed it to start with, but over the years a number of small planting beds and pathways have been added. Alison says the beds make it easier to maintain as they can work on one bed at a time. This garden has been a highlight for kids in four of the Greenhithe Garden tours as Gill has tucked in little houses, gnomes, characters, bridges and funny riddles.
It was great to see four new faces at the meeting. New members are always welcome. Normally we meet at a Greenhithe home and have a delicious morning tea, tour the garden, plant swap, raffle and question and answer session. However, next month we are visiting a Whenuapai 2 ½ acre garden. Please call Rosemary on 413 8552 or Alison on 413 9442 if you would like to come along.
