Community Constable April 2010

It has been a reasonably quiet month so I haven't got a lot to write about. Over the last few months 2 dinghies have disappeared from GH. One from the Rame Rd wharf and one from a private address. If anyone knows anything about it please let Police know. One of the dinghies was light blue (and it is not the one near the Scout den).
Also some tagging has appeared (and cleaned up) on Tauhinu Rd near the motorway and on the football club storage in Wainoni Park which was broken into twice within a week. Same applies, if you know anything let Police know. Please phone 486 8600 (Action Line) so it can be photographed, documented and removed asap.

I am receiving a fair amount of complaints of youngsters skateboarding in dangerous locations, the main one being Roland Rd. Reports of youth on skateboards being towed by vehicles are coming in as well. Parents with kids who go out skateboarding are advised to talk to their children in relation to safety. Skating on the main roads is totally unacceptable. I also see a lot of children skating without helmets (not illegal but bad safety practice). For a few dollars you can prevent a head injury but I should not have to spell that out. A simple house rule should be : no helmet, no skating..

Neighbourhood support groups are being set up still in some of the streets of GH. Well done to those that are getting organised. Don't forget there is (or can be) more to a group then crime prevention. Neighbourhood support groups help each other with reliable contacts in relation to reliable contractors, help with neighbourly duties and in Paremoremo for instance car pooling groups are in the process of being set up so mothers don't have to drop their kids of every day and help out in case something
happens and you can't pick your kid up. Neighbourhood groups will also have to show that they are active or their signs will disappear from the streets.

The number for the anonymous information in relation to information you may have about any criminal activity that goes on or a crime that has been committed and you have information on is 0800 555111. ANONYMITY is guaranteed.

The NON-EMERGENY number is 477 5000 which still sees you connected directed to Police. This number is good to use in case you observe ANY suspicious behaviour you witness and you feel uncomfortable phoning 111.

I will be back on duty from the 21st April.

Keep safe
