Greenhithe School News - March 2008
Half way through the term already and the school holidays approaching fast – A reminder that the term ends on Friday 18th April only three and a half weeks after Easter.
Swim Sports Success
There were five schools competing at the interschool swimming sports day: Ridgeview, Upper Harbour , Albany , Coatsville and Greenhithe. A great effort from our Greenhithe school swimmers who came second overall on points. The school also received the sports trophy for the day which was excellent. They children really did us proud. I must admit they also looked very flash as they left wearing the new sports uniforms.
What's going on in the learning in Term One.
Year 5 and 6 are doing their Inquiry unit on Cooperation and sports. This will culminate in the children organising and running a Challenge Day later in the term. They are also completing a Water Safety Certificate. The theory was done at school and the practical at the Millennium pool.
Year 3 and 4 are working on an Inquiry unit looking at packaging and how it has changed over the years. Maybe they could come up with a solution to all the waste that produces and what we can do with it all.
Years 1 and 2 have been designing and making chairs for their bears this term. The final results are innovative and the children enjoyed the whole process and are proud of their chairs.
