This romantic comedy drama is about Larry Crowne (played by Tom Hanks, who also directs), a middle-
aged man who is made redundant from his long-standing job. Deciding to better himself and work
towards a brighter future, he returns to college where he forms bonds with a community of outcasts
who are all there for similar reasons to himself.

At the college he develops a crush on his teacher (Julia Roberts) who has lost her passion for both her
job and her marriage. Crowne thinks that everything worth having has passed him by, but he now might
just discover a reason to live.
