Dear Councillors and Local Board Members,
Thank you to the 4 representatives who were able to attend our Greenhithe ‘Tiki Tour’ last weekend. We did appreciate the opportunity to talk about the issues that we see as important in maintaining the unique character of Greenhithe.
On the invitation of Local Board Chairman Brian Neeson I list below a few of the important issues that we have identified.
Roading priorities;
- Tauhinu Road (realign to take the humps out to improve the vision, widen, speed control and create car parking off the road carriageway, perhaps like Roland RD)
- Realign the corner of Greenhithe/Tauhinu to make Rame Road the side entry road.
- Rame road to Salthouse Marine (Drainage, widen, speed control, create car parking spaces)
- The connection of Kyle Road to Snapper Rock Road (The committee is split on this and would like to see some wider community consultation).
- Rahui, Marae and Austin Roads. (realign, widen, drainage and footpaths)
Other priorities;
- To Gobi block the grass verge parking spaces on the northern side of Greenhithe Road between the school and Kyle Road .
- To improve parking for cars and cars with trailers at the bottom of Rame road by the Salthouse boat ramp.
- To get wider Community input to the decision on the location of the proposed ‘ Skate Park ’. The Committee favour Collins Park !
- To create some form of sense of entry to Greenhithe Village at some point on Greenhithe Road and Tauhinu Road .
- To manage traffic speeds through central Greenhithe.
- To enhance central Greenhithe with appropriate planting.
- To keep the ‘Green’ in Greenhithe through planting tree lined streets, maintaining our wonderful walkway system and enhancing the appearance of the Equestrian precinct.
We thank you for the opportunity to submit our priorities and look forward to working with the new Council authorities to the betterment of Greenhithe and greater Auckland .
Kind Regards
Brian J Carran
