I am a student at Westlake boys High school and I am researching the social effects on people living in the flight path of the proposed commercial airport at Whenuapai. What I would like to know is

1/ are you in favour of the new airport

2/ reasons that you are for or against

I am for the airport.  Like the Sherrif, majority of people I've spoken to in Greenhithe is also for it.  I think it would benefit the surrounding councils (Nth Shore, Rodney & Waitakere) greatly.  It will boost tourism (hotels/motels/B&B's & restaurants) and will be brilliant for domestic business flights.  I do not believe any increase in flight activity will lower the surrounding properties value, as we already live under the current airbase (which has been there since the 40's)..

hello thomas,as a former pilot i believe an airport would be hugely beneficial to the area.the travel time to and fro for people who travel a lot would be greatly decreased and if you are an avid planespotter such as myself then we will have a multitude of various aircraft to oogle at.the sooner the better.

I just moved to Greenhithe from West Albany and I find it to be a peaceful place with fresh air...I literally have not had an asthma attack, ( something I used to suffer regularly), since moving in to the area.

If you ever looked up at  a passing plane as it lands from Manukau you see this thick cloud of vapour spewing out. Honestly, it is only good for the corporate organisations who basically don't care if our environment is polluted by jet fuel and our eardrums are shattered every 20-30 minutes by the sound of a jet landing.

No way no how should this go ahead.

Totally wrong, but isn't everything the politicians do only meant to line their pockets?
