Dying Loved ones!
Up to General Discussion
As we all know the Greenhithe Road has been closed as previously acknowledged to divert traffic over the new Greenhithe Bridge. It has come to my attention, usually in a screeching stop, that residents on upper Kyle Road are not giving way to cars still using the old section of Greenhithe Road. (The intersection of Kyle, Orwell and Greenhithe Roads)
I have had 8 near death experiences in the last two weeks as cars proceed down Kyle Road on to Orwell Road at 80km and fail to give way to turning cars. I am unaware if they are missing my indication because of sun strike or are just to arrogant to believe people still live up the closed off road. In particular, I believe that it is incredibly rude of these drivers to pull various fingers and shout loud abusive words in their defense.
I would just like to say, road markings are put there for a reason, whether traffic has subsided or not. Please obey the lines and be hesitant if you see another car coming as they may not be going up Kyle Road but turning! This matter is becoming dangerous as people are failing to ‘Give Way’ and are only-just missing turning cars. This problem needs to be addressed quickly before lives of loved-ones are lost on Greenhithe Roads.
Update: Ratepayers Assoc. has contacted NSCC and Transit.

From Transit:
We were aware of the requirement to alter the intersection layout after Kyle Rd diversion was made redundant, and this was discussed with NSCC at our liaison meetings last year.
Opus' North Shore office has since been undertaking the design of both the roundabout at Kyle / Orwell Rds intersection, and the cul-de-sac end of the Kyle Rd diversion in conjunction with NSCC.
In the interim, we believe the intersection layout as it stands can function adequately until the final layout is constructed, given the (now) relatively low traffic volumes using the intersection under the
existing 'Give Way' control. In this case both roads are dead-end 'feeder' roads into the intersection, although the eastern end of Kyle Rd is probably the larger traffic volume.
We note also that it is a 50kph speed environment and a controlled intersection, and the layout will be addressed as soon as the final design has been agreed with NSCC and construction can be undertaken.
Editor: what do you think? Is this response good enough?
