Greenhithe Dairy

Posted by Anonymous at January 25. 2011
Having lived here in Greenhithe now for the last couple of years, I have now come to the disappointing decision to boycott the local village dairy. Time and time again I have had nothing but disappointing service ranging from being treated with contempt and disrespect, to my children being short changed and over charged on items they have purchased with pocket money. Eggs that have been black/rotten only a day after they have been bought and Raro drink that, once bought and unpacked at home, I have discovered that the packets have been sealed down with tape having been obviously torn/opened.

It is a shame, as the other shops in the village are wonderful and deliver a great and friendly service, especially the pharmacy.

Has anyone else had the same experience as me?

No. I've lived here for many many years; the current owners have run the dairy for many years also. The dairy is always VERY well stoked, and offers competitive pricing imo - certainly not the 'rip off' prices many other dairies offer.

I have also been very disappointed with the service my family has received at the Greenhithe dairy and like the thread starter our family has also boycotted the dairy. Some days the transaction occurred without a problem but far too often I left the dairy feeling unhappy with the transaction. The final straw was my children being deliberately over charged by $18 on a $45 transaction. Several of the items had been put through twice and my children were treated with contempt when they politely questioned the charge. I spoke to the dairy owner about it and he admitted what had happened, apologized and assured me it wouldn't happen again. Unfortunately it did happen again so we now go elsewhere. It's very disappointing as having the dairy there is very convenient and as a long time Greenhithe resident I want to support local business

My 11 year old son was also short changed by $6 at the Greenhithe dairy. I sent him back in to the dairy at the same time the following day just to see if it was just an unfortunate one off incident. My son purchased $7.10 worth of items and handed over a $20 note. Instead of receiving $12.90 change my son was given $10.40 change. I went straight back into the dairy and pointed out this situation to the owner. He apologised and gave my son the $2.50 he'd been short changed. I pointed out to the owner this was not the first time this had happened. My family no longer use the Greenhithe dairy so it is them who lose out especially as my son has a large circle of friends. He was very frustrated as it meant one less thing for youngsters to do unsupervised in Greenhithe. While surfing the internet I came by this site and was not surprised at all to see the negative feedback the dairy has received. Greenhithe is growing but it's still too small a community for this sort of thing to continue occurring.
