Message from Greenhithe, Kent, UK
Hi guys,
I have noticed Greenhithe, NZ when using the internet I live in the village of Greenhithe in Kent - just to the west of London in the UK.
I wanted to open 'inital' talks just to say Hi, but, if there are any ways the 2 communities can be linked I thing it would be fun.....

Not as an entire community, the church may have websites, there are various council groups also. I am starting a Group on Facebook for a local Royal British Legion club that is one of the main focal points of the community.

We have a Lions (community service) club which may be similar in function to your Royal Britsh Legion Club, and may be interested in being a contact point for visitors from Greenhithe UK, if the RBLC is ditto. Alternatively, our Residents and ratepayers Association might be interested in a relationship with any comparable organisation at the UK end. This would almost ceratinly be the case if it could be shown that there was some connection in the nameing of Greenhithe AKL. Such visitors might be hosted, whether for the day or even for longer, and shown around the local Greenhithe. There are many very interesting features of Greenhithe AKL - local bush, park and neighbourhood walks, local pub and active community centre, tennis club, boating/fishing club. It is a rather "upmarket" village with good local pre-schools and school, has a rather stunning crenulated maritime and bush-laden topographically-varigated environment and has an unusually strong community based on a considerable history for a NZ community, being at least 150 years "old" - which for us is OLD. It would be amongst the most coherent and interesting local communities (and environments) in NZ. Naturally, any reciprocal visiting/hosting arrangements would need to be based on mutual standards and interests, complementary cultures, and offer comparable "tourism values". It would also need to be initiated with a visit by someone willing to do some organising and steering of the development of a relationship. Did you have something like that in mind? Certainly, when I am next in UK (probably next year, visiting my son and DIL who are relocating to the home counties this coming November from San Francisco, where he was lead software architect/engineer for Maxis/Electronic Arts' "Spore" game, and she was chief of privacy/security technology for Google, now Google's "face" negotiator with EU privacy/security moguls) I will endeavour to visit and "check out" Greenhithe UK. Is there a contact 'phone no., website or email address you would care to offer? Mine is davidbwi@ihug.co.nz
