Dog Fouling
Yes. It's this old discussion again!
I have a couple of dog 'problems' in the past with dogs coming into our back garden and barking aggressively at our kids.
I've never managed to find out who the owners were, until last week, when I caught the chap walking them in the fields behind our house on Churchouse Road.
After explaining the problem to him, he was more than happy to sort the problem out, and was quite apologetic. So, I was quite pleased that he was sympathetic. That particular problem has now gone away. So, it's good to just have a kind chat with the owner... or so I thought...
Today, in a completely separate incident. I was walking down Isobel Road behind this chap walking his dog (he lives on Olwyn Place); no bag in hand. He went straight into the school grounds (clearly marked NO DOGS). So, I watched from the road to see if he was just cutting through. He wasn't he let the dog off it's leash, and watched it from a distance while it defecated in the school grounds. He called the dog back, and headed back out of the school. I collared him on his way back home and explained that I saw what happened and asked him to go clean it up. He refused, and blatantly lied about picking up after himself. The guy was completely unrepentant. He even said that if it was at the side of the road, he'd have picked it up, as he carries a bag. On asking, he never produced this bag of course, as it didn't exist. So, it's okay to crap in a kids school, where they play, but not on the side of the road!? His disregard for other people was astounding.
So, this guy purely went into a kids school to get his dog to do his business, and then head back home.
I wanted to follow him back to his house, but didn't want to make a situation of it.
Any ideas on who or how to report incidents like this? Not sure if it's worth the hassle. I honestly thought that having a little chat would make him think different, but thinking back about this incident today, this guy was totally out of order. I wish now I had been firmer with him and got his address.
Anyway, just thought I'd have a little rant.

Re: Dog Fouling
absolutely bloody disgusting! what an arrogant prick! If you had his address, I guess you could have reported him to the council - next time you see his dog, get the registration number from it's tag and report him.
I get absolutely sick of people thinking that everybody else should just put up with their 'precious' dogs and their shit! I watch people walk down my road all the time and stand there pretending to look the other way, while their dog has a dump on my lawn! 9 out of 10 do not pick it up. Neighbours also let their dog out once or twice a day, to do the same thing (funny how it doesn't shit on their patch eh).
If you can get his address, bloody name and shame the prick on here.

Re: Dog Fouling
Thank god if he or she exists for people like you.
Like minded.
What breed of dog did this 'chap' have?, do you remember a collar color? lead color?, color of the dog, size, what did this guy look like? what road did he go onto afterwards? direction?, all those things, e-mail or call it into the council.
Under the Act they should (North Shore Dog Control doesn't have the greatest reputation though) they can still give this guy an infringement simply on a signed statement from you, and finding him isn't all that too hard with a dog search in the area on the system, provided a good breed description can be given, and they will visit everyone that is familiar to what you have described at the worst and warn them all that people are calling this arrogant human behavior in, unless this guy is stupid enough to comment or admit what happened or gives it away by saying that he remembers being bailed up by you. Then he will get a nice $300 fine for letting his dog do this.
Next time you out and about, take a camera, and there you have it. Sounds over board? but really most of us have kids and our own dogs and abide by the law to live in good stead with our community so everyone can enjoy the neighbourhoods. We don't need kids stepping or falling into it, or dogs eating it and getting sick.
Shame on this dude. Hunt him down, make him pay.
Don't worry about feeling like an extremist, you'd be doing the right thing. People around here like to think they are better than the rest, small things like this remind us that we are not.
Good on you for voicing you concern, give the council a call anyway they should be bloody patrolling the area especially being summer!

Re: Dog Fouling
To add to my post, it's never the dog's fault 9 out of 10 times. Always the human.
10 bad dogs = 9 bad owners.
Not hard to carry a plastic bag.
Maybe he is too high and mighty.

Re: Dog Fouling
Our neighbour was letting his dog out to poo on our lawn under cover of darkness. Never carries a bag on his walkies. I got so sick of his dog and others chasing our pets on our property, had to put gates across our driveway to protect our own animals. Council dog ranger was very good when I managed to catch one of the dogs - take the tag number or better still tie the dog up and call the council. (This neighbour not only sends his dog off the property to poo, he takes his household rubbish out in a little bag every morning and dumps it either in the school rubbish bins or in the bin outside the dairy.)
