Park and ride in Greenhithe?
Rumour has it that Transit NZ is acquiring land for purpose of building a park and ride facility at the back of Huttington Park Rd and Lemon Grove Lane, with a cut from the Upper Harbour highway for buses to enter and exit.
Can anyone confirm or is aware of such a project being planned?

I think it would be Northshore that would be doing this and not NZTA as Northshore are the ones who own and operate the station.
I don't know anything about there being such a thing in the area you are talking about however there is talk of a Western Busway down SH16 as well as some priority bus provisions at the new Hobsonville Development.

It would be interesting if that was the case. For NZTA (or North Shore City) to acquire land they would have to go through the process of a designation (unless they just felt like buying it on the open market to future proof).
Gosh isn't the whole NZTA/ARTA/North Shore mess regarding busways a great advertisement for why the Regional Transport Agency will be a fantastic step forwards?

It would be a step forward however you have to remember that Aucklanders don't like to pay for things themselves, they tend to want to whole country to chip in hence why NZTA had to make the Busway whilst Northshore built the bus stops.

Well that's the fundamental problem of local governments having to rely on property taxes. If they got a share of GST life would work much better I reckon.
But yes, I agree with you that Aucklanders have to realise that if they want an improved city they will have to pay more to get it. Unfortunately it seems like we've rejected that concept (at least within Auckland City), so I imagine we won't see much improvement for a while yet.

Surely anything that connects to a motorway and is maybe partly inside the motorway designation would be partly the responsibility of the NZTA.
OK cool

So possibly if there is a Busway along SH18 then it is only logical that a Park and ride facility be provided. But then this is only pure speculation unless someone can confirm this.I am concerned as I live on the street that is possibly going to be built as one and at the moment it is a big piece of land which has not been subdivided as residential lots.
