Roadside Shrub Trimming

Posted by Anonymous at February 13. 2010
To whomsoever took the trouble, and made the effort to trim roadside shrubbery from the immediate vicinity of my mailbox, - thank you. You have saved me from yet another task on by todo list!

How about doing the rest of Rahui Road. It is long overdue for a major cut back of overhanging roadside shrubbery.

How about an approach to NSCC Parks and Reserves to get some action. As it is, vehicles are forced onto the wrong side of the rather narrow road that is Rahui Road.

Yes, I could take it up with NSCC!
But, how about some support from elsewhere?

Cheers.

I hear ya,

Up my end there is a major problem with the dreaded 'other' side of the footpath. I do mine. I dont like doing so.

But we have some dirty peckers at this end that don't do it, and I can't really say I blame them.

Why isn't the council coming through and tidying up the place. Starting too look like Otahuhu around here.

The council doesn't have the budget to clear vegetation on footpaths, unless it represents a safety hazard (eg to traffic), so unfortunately we are left to keep our surroundings tidy.

<Hi,
It is Lou here. I confess. I was the local lopper.

I spend a lot of time in a small town in the south island. When they see something needs doing, they do it. It would not enter their heads to expect someone to do it for them be it the Government, council or any other organisation.

Hopefully a bit of their admirable attitude is rubbing off on me.

It took a few minutes to do what I did. I thought the road was getting just a little too narrow.
I will do more when I get time.

If the council gets involved, they will either bring in a machine that would leave the area looking as if a helicopter has pruned it. Or worse, some agent orange and give us all a blast.
So why not B.Y.O.Loppers and join the fun.

Cheers.

Just ring the council and tell them it's a hazard (ie getting up to power lines etc, or blocking clear view of the road or something) - has worked for me..
