So.... Who is actually FOR the airport???

We've all heard from those who are against... What about those of us that are for?? Personally, I've lived in Greenhithe all my life.. The current airport has been there for at least 50 years or so. The planes (Hercules etc) which currently fly over are a heck of alot noisier and let out more pollution than what a domestic carrier would. I had the misfortune of having to travel to Wellington a few months ago, the plane was leaving at 8:45am. As it was raining etc, and knowing Auckland Traffic, I left Greenhithe at 6am. Due to an accident near the airport, all motorways and arterials were completely congested. I got to the airport with 10mins to spare; fortunately the plane had been delayed due to fog otherwise I would not have made it on the flight. When I arrived back to Ak Airport (at about 6:30pmish) I had to contend with major traffic delays negotiating my way back to Greenhithe (I got home approx 8pm). Travelling to Whenuapai would have been a breeze compared to that. I've seen people complain about pollution, noise, traffic congestion and even someone wondering what would happen if a plane fell from the sky!! Please, with all the years an airport has been there has a plane fallen from the sky?! I love the planes, and even now still rush out to look at them when they fly over. I doubt a domestic airport would make any difference to what we already have 'on our back yard' and I fully support there being a domestic airport. Last council elections, I specifically voted for councilors who were 'pro airport'..
Who else is for? (don't want to hear from the 'against' people as there is enough support for you via WAAG etc...)

If the travel to Auckland airport is a hassle, go live in Mangere, you can see a lot more planed fly over and breathe the fresh air these leave.
BTW, there is only 1 airport in Auckland, Whenuapai is an airbase!
As for me I love the drive to Mangere. You are nieve if you think being buzzed at 6am on Sunday is not going to happen. Even Tim brown at Infratil is talking about insulation for houses on the flightpath, an admission in itself.
