Old School Bell
An old resident of Greenhithe wants to know if anyone has knowledge of the whereabouts of the bell from the OLD school? The bell in question was a ship's bell from the barquentine "Frank Guy", that plied the NZ coast in the early part of the last century. Many, many years ago the bell was donated to the Old School by a former resident of Greenhithe. The enquirer has a family connection, hence the enquiry. Does anyone have a bell of unidentified origin stowed away in the back of the garage or even hanging at the front door? (as a ship's bell, it would very likely be engraved with the ship name) It would appear that there were, in fact two bells, a hand bell and a big bell mounted somewhere high up on the Old School building, and rung by pulling on a rope. Any information leading to location of either or both bells would be greatly appreciated.
