Up to Greenhithe Skatepark
I had the pleasure of going to a skatepark the other day....
Took the kids out to Browns Bay and had lunch in the childrens park there. Immediately beside the childrens park, is a skatepark and guess what? There was no tagging/graffiti, no drinking, no drugs, no vandalism, no obscene behaviour; all I saw was ALOT of young people (from pre-teens to older 20 somethings) having ALOT of fun. They were all getting on and mingling with each other (remember that from our youths??), having lots of fun and getting some fresh air and exercise while they're at it.
The Skatepark is a great idea, and I would personally like to see it extended to include a couple of basketball hoops and other things (more like an 'activity park' than just a place to skate).
All you people who think druggies are going to go start hanging out there are ignorant. Go check out some of the other skateparks around the Shore. Stop being so narrow minded, pig headed and selfish. Lets get this plan in action for the kids and the future generation of kids in Greenhithe.

I submited a similar letter on this web site about a week ago, which was never posted by the monitor, saying exactly the same things. I take my Grandson to Browns Bay, Marlborough, Birkenhead and Devenport. And all the kids are well behaved and enjoy themselves immensely. It would be fantastic to have our own skate complex in greenhithe, and if these people making ignorant comments got involved with our youth they might be enlightened.

I'm so pleased to get a positive response (wasn't expecting it going by other posts in this forum...).. There is a committee, which could use some other people involved to help things get moving. The local constable is involved, along with a couple of others including at least one young person. If my children weren't so young, I would like to be involved myself (the meetings are at night time when I am unable to attend due to having kids unfortunately).. I urge people to join the committe so this can become a reality..
